Class Details


             The new 2013 Gulf Breeze Zootography Class Schedule is now official!
The Snake

This year, the zoo is offering ten Zootography days throughout the year.  

There are ten different classes running from March to December with 8 different class types spanning from composition and the rule of thirds, all the way to long exposures during night photography.



There are no prerequisites for any of the classes, so you may register for any one or even take them all - every day at the Zoo is a new experience!

- Seats are limited (max of 25 per class) so register early to guarantee your seat.
- Private group classes are available by request and dependent upon availability.

 Composition / Rule of Thirds  Lions, Tigers

 10/12  9am - 12 noon Exposure / Aperture / Shutter / ISO
  Clouded Leopard, Reptiles

  Phone Pictures At the Zoo!  Tamarins, Raccoons, Toucans

*These are the guaranteed animal encounters, there will be other animals available for photographing during each class.

Tour Descriptions

Zootography tours are designed to take you places you would not normally be able to go within the zoo in order to practice photography principles.

Behind the scenes encounters depend on animal health and behavior.  We can not guarantee any encounter as we can not predict how an animal will be feeling on any given day.  The tours listed above are a guideline.  If an animal listed can not be used during a class, an alternate encounter will be chosen.

Sample Class Agenda

 Meet at the Gulf Breeze Zoo Classroom
 - bring the instruction manual for your camera if you have any questions

 30-45 minutes of classroom instruction
 - professional instruction on photography concepts and how to apply them at the Zoo 

 60 minute special access tour * 
 - guided tour with feedings, encounters and behind the scenes access

 Release for Day at the Zoo to continue your shoot

* Special Access Tour Notes:

  • Wear close-toed shoes and dress for the weather.
  • There is no age restriction but each child under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • You must have a release form on file at the Zoo to participate in the tour.
  • We strive to deliver the best tour possible but weather, animal health, and other Zoo activities impact which animals we may encounter on any given day.
